Last week we read three very interesting and different picture books. Choose one to summarize and then share your opinion about the text and why you feel that way you do about it. Your choices are: The Lost Boys of Hope, The Summer My Father was Ten, or Uncle Jed's Barbershop. Remember, a summary explains the most important events of a story in a concise and careful manner.
I like The Boys of hope because I love the way how they never gave up and how they believed in there self to make it. In the book The Boys Of Hope three was a little 8 year old boy that lives in Africa and that take cares of the animals, and one day he was taking care of the animals and when he was doing that he heard bombs, gun shots, and saw some lite.The animals where scared so they ran away. Then to be safe the little boy went up a tree and saw that his town was being destroyed. After ever thing was over the 8 year old boy gone to his town and he saw boys that where lost trying to find there parents. When they all found out there parents where not there, so the big kids made a meeting and said that they each would have leaders for different groups and they pick the 8 year old kid to be one of the leaders. He had 32-36 people in his group. They were on there way to go to a safe place. They traveled at night because they where scared that the people from the war would get them so the decided to go at night. On there way there some children died because there wasn't food or not any water, they had to drink there pee.Some kids died because they got sick. When they where going to the safe place the 8 year old boy was taking care of a 5 year old. He toke care of the 5 year old every day. He cared him when he was sleepy. He even gave him some of his food. When they got to the safe place they where safe for sure. In the safe place they gave him food, water, and made them go to school. Some kids from the 8 year old group did not want to go to school. When the people from there told the 8 year old boy he thought his parents would want them to go to school for there ejection’s there 8 year old boy made the kids go to school. After days, weeks past the war people come and attack. Then the little kids left as soon as they can. When they saw help coming they toke only the little kids because they didn't have that much room in the trucks so this why they said only the small kids. After that they saw each other again. Years past and the 8 year old boy were old and the 5 year old kid was an adult. The old man was a surprise for the young adult. He missed him so much. When they saw each other they hugged and the old man had great news for the young adult. The great news was that the old man made some thing that the let the young adult to go to America. This is the summary of The Boys of Hope.
ReplyDeleteLast week my classmates and I read the very interesting books they were fascinating. The one book that really stood out was The Lost Boy's of Hope. This very fascinating book was about a group of boys that had to flood there home's because there was a war going on and as they traveled farther they found more boy's that was willing to tag along. These boy's servived by just making figure's or toy's in the mud,that was very brave to me.
ReplyDeleteI really injoyed the book Uncle Jed's Barbershop. What had happend was the little girl had got sick and Uncle Jed had to pay with his money he was saving for the barbeshop to pay for her surgery.Then he had found out that the money he had saved again that was in the bank was gone. But he never gave up he kept going for his dreams. He finally acomplished his dream of getting his barbershop and after all that time saving his money finally got his babrershop but sadly a little while after that he had pased away and gave the shop to the girl who was older now. I thought that this story was magnificent because I thought it sends a good massege to ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS AND NEVER EVER GIVE UP!
ReplyDeleteI liked Uncle Jed's barbershop because Uncle Jed never gave up on his dreams and accomplished many things in his life. This fantastic story starts off as Uncle Jed is over at his neice and family's house and talking about how he has a dream in life to open up a barbershop becausee he loves to cut and style peoples' hair.The problem in this story is there is alot of segrigation going on in this story so people are discouraging him. Segrigation means colored people aren't being treated right. Also Uncle Jed's Niece get's very sick and he has to pay the expence with his savings. Luckily he still winds up making enough money but soon after the banks fail so he lost his money! very later in his life when he is elderly he finally got a chance to open a barbershop! he accomplished his dreams and opened a fantastic barbershop! Sadly he died short after he opened it. I like this book because it shows how you should'nt let people discourage you and you need to follow your dreams in life.

He sall some red tmaose. Him and his friends had a tmaose fite. His nabers was relly disupotid in him. He sade srry. He hellpt him grow a grtin.

ReplyDeleteLast week Mrs.Lahpams class read a book called The Summer My Father Was Ten. It was about a kid asking her father about the summer he was ten. And it started as when Mr.Belivista planted a garden and one day the dad was playing baseball with his friends and one kid hit the ball in Mr.Belivista's garden so the dad went over and got but he thought it would be funny if he would throw a tomato over the fence and hit his friend so he does it and does hit his friend and it started a huge garden fight. And so when Mr. Belivista came out and just said why and all the boys left besides the dad he could not move his feet felt like stone. But one day he saw Mr.Belivista and appoligized about what he did. And he asked are you going to make another garden and he said so you can wreck it again. No so me and you can do it so they did a garden every year. Amd one day Mr.Belivista pasted on so the dad kept on doing it. That is a summary of The Summer My Dad Was Ten.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the book Uncle Jeds Barbershop because what had happend was the little girl had got sick and Uncle Jeds had to pay the money that he was saving for the Barbershop to pay for her surgery and i thought it sends a good message to always follow your dreams and never ever give up!

ReplyDeleteI like the 'Boys of Hope' because it's not a book that you read every day and hear about. This story is about a country that was taken over by war and at the war all the familys were killed but the boy'that were with the animals but the animals ran away. All the boys were running away.I'll only tell you a little. But it was one of the best books i ever read i really think you should read this book.

And close to the end the father of her help him with the garden again then he went to a old peoples home so the father and her make a garden for him.
ReplyDeleteI liked the book Uncle Jeds Barber Shop.I thought it was a really good book. The nice part was when uncle Jed lost all his bank money but he didint freak out he just started saving up agian.I think Uncle Jed is also really nice because when the girl got sick and didint have enough money to pay he payed for her to get the really expensive medication.

ReplyDeleteI injoyed the book tacked the summer my father.The summer my father was ten is about a dad that is taling his dulule about the summer he was ten and he want to play with his friend and demolsih Mr.bellavista garden.At the end the dad and Mr.bellavista planted a garden and they planted a big garden with tomatoes and peppers.The tomatoes and peppers are as big as a baseball.

______________________________ dad who was playing baseball with his friends and the baseball went into Mr.Belavista's garden. The dad thought it would be funny to get a tomatoe and throw as if it was a baseball and when the dad threw his friend hit it and everybody laughed and then the friend went to the garden and grabbed a tomatoe and then threw at the dad and then they had a garden fight.Mr. Belavista was upset and then the dad apoligized and build a garden with him.
